History

WENDO, an acronym that means "love" in Kamba and "visitor" in Luo, stands for Women Empowerment Networking and Development Organization. As a women led, UK-based charity and focused on empowerment of women, WENDO aims to contribute to eradication of marginalisation of women especially in Kenya. We are passionate about supporting women and girls to address the challenges they are facing. Our inspiration comes from our trustees’ individual experience of burden bore by women in resource limited setting and the desire to fill the gaps that exist in society, which often disadvantage women. Recognizing the crucial role of women in the household and communities, WENDO advocates for gender equality and provides charitable, durable, and sustainable solutions through our partners particularly to women and girls living in poverty.
